NECESSITY IS THE MOTHER OF INNOVATION
Institutions of higher learning,
like DeVry University, are using
Elluminate Live!® to:
Add live interaction to asynchronous distance learning
Expand the boundaries of the traditional classroom
Combine in-person and Web-based instruction
DeVry University fosters student learning through high-quality,
career-oriented undergraduate and graduate programs in technology,
business and management. The university delivers its programs at
campuses, centers and online to meet the needs of a diverse and
geographically dispersed student population. DeVry unifies the
physical and virtual campuses by using Elluminate to simulate the
face-to-face experience of the physical classroom, while adding
technologically advanced functions like screen/application-sharing
that allow features and benefits beyond a typical classroom experience.
Darrell Kreckel, Senior Instructional Designer and former Program Dean
of Technology at DeVry, believes that Elluminate is instrumental in changing
the way the university teaches and delivers its curriculum.
"A good case in point is that prior to Elluminate, seniors worked on
their year-long Capstone group project and submitted 200-300 page documents
to instructors, who had to read and grade each one. With Elluminate, each
Capstone group makes its presentation live online. The instructor can
log-in at a later time to review and grade it. That has been very helpful,
and we are beginning to use Elluminate in all our Capstone classes."
