Our innovative uses of Elluminate include the annual International Blended Learning conference, during which we seamlessly link with the University of Calgary and the University of Queensland. In this context, Elluminate Live! is an invaluable tool that underpins our engagement with colleagues across the higher education sector. In the process, it enables us to model cutting edge Blended Learning practice with the intention of further influencing others' practice. Excellent feedback from delegates shows how successful we have been in our endeavours.
In addition, we use Elluminate Live! for courses, including law, computer science, engineering, health and emergency professions, and nursing and midwifery, and to support a number of other staff development activities, internally and across the sector. These include external and internal teaching and learning events, conferences, workshops, seminars, and open-space activities for faculty. As a result, we've seen a huge growth in Blended Learning practice at the University of Hertfordshire and the spread in the use of Elluminate across all our Faculties.
The real challenge is persuading staff to change their practice. Today, at least 95% of staff has implemented blended learning to some extent. At the same time, more and more students are benefiting. They feel that using Elluminate was almost like a having a one-to-one relationship with the instructor while enabling them to communicate with their friends.
