Center of Excellence Alaska Online uses Elluminate Live!® to:

• Offer the same content and interaction as a traditional classroom
• Deliver reliable, interactive distance education
• Provide crystal-clear audio, even for those with low-bandwidth or satellite connections

A web-based K-12 program, Alaska Online consortium wanted to add voice over the Internet technology that was reliable, even with satellite communications and 56K modems. The organization installed the Blackboard Building Block for Elluminate Live! and made it a requirement that teachers build synchronous interaction into every course as a “wow” kind of tool they can use with their students. As a Center of Excellence, Alaska Online offers a live eLearning environment that is more effective than a traditional classroom, adding more opportunities for communications and interaction without the need for travel.
