First adopted by the University of Alberta in 2006, Elluminate Live! has become instrumental in connecting students, staff, instructors, and researchers in collaborative and engaging academic endeavors. A centrally sponsored technology, the use of Elluminate Live! has transcended the traditional academic boundaries so often found in large institutions, finding its way into the-day to-day operations of faculties across campus.

With its multiple functionalities, Elluminate Live! has proven to be an effective tool in support of:

• Distance, on-campus, and blended learning
• Professional development
• Research collaborations on national, international levels
• Communities of practice, like the Online Program Support Group
• Learning support, including virtual office hours, clerkships, and practicums
