Developing a sense of community has repeatedly been shown to influence students’ sense of course satisfaction, learning, and problem solving in learning environments.  Many faculty have been hesitant to teach online classes due to the difficulty in developing classroom community when communicating with students through asynchronous text-based course management tools.  This session examines how Elluminate can be used to build a sense of community within the distance education learning environment.
