A Global Perspective of Online Learning
What does the future of learning look like? How do we define a world-class education for today’s students? Susan Patrick provides a national and global perspective on the future trends in education, expectations for students, and what strategies schools need to have in place. Globalization requires students to be academically prepared for a vastly different workplace to achieve success in a knowledge-based economy. eLearning is providing a revolution across the globe for the best teachers to reach the most remote students. Online learning offers a solution for expanding opportunities, global collaboration, and 21st century skills. So all schools can deliver on the promise that every student should have access to the best education available, regardless of their neighborhood or geography. Learn about the latest research and what works for K-12 online learning.
e-Learning Learning Done Right: Challenges and Opportunities
Stephen Laster, CIO of Harvard Business School
The past decade has been a time of rapid evolution and experimentation in the field of e-learning. Our definition of “state-of-the-art” has evolved from CBT and CD-ROM delivery focused on the solitary learner, to virtual and community based e-learning delivered in a blend of emerging technologies and pedagogies. What have we learned from this experience, and what does this say for the future? E-Learning Done Right is a well-choreographed experience that challenges many of our long held assumptions. Come listen, discuss, and chart out the next evolution of e-learning.

Synchronous Learning Systems - Accessibility Challenges
Saroj Primlani, Coordinator of University IT Accessibility, Information Technology Division, North Carolina State University
Synchronous Learning Systems have created a new instruction delivery space that combines the pedagogies of the real-time traditional classroom with the advantages of online web-enabled communication, collaboration, and presentation technologies, providing opportunities to integrate and address different teaching and learning styles.

For students with a disability, this learning space combines all the audiovisual demands of a face-to-face classroom with the added accessibility challenges of different IT resources, communication, and delivery systems. To facilitate participation of students with disabilities in this new learning space, the technology must meet the need to address and accommodate their functional limitations.

This presentation provides a general overview of the accessibility challenges of the online synchronous learning space, a discussion of accessibility features included in Elluminate Live! that address some of these needs, and some general instruction guidelines and strategies that can be used to accommodate students with disabilities in this environment.
