Institución Gabriel García Márquez- Medellín, Colombia.
the school completed a four-phased project to help combat climate change in one of Colombia's most important cities. Their outcomes included the planting of flowers, garbage pickup in their school and community, and a promotional campaign to educate the students on the efficient use of electricity and water. One of the school's most impressive achievements was a "Fashion Parade", in which the students showcased some incredible garments they made from 100% recycled materials including plastic cups, newspaper, and bottle caps.
 
Langevin Science School - Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
the school showcased a unique biofuel project to convert commercially grown crops to diesel fuel, which might someday be used in school buses.
 
Le Petit Séminaire de Pabré - Burkina Faso.
the school has engaged in the planting a various types of native trees to help combat the devastating effects of desertification in a rural area outside of Ouagadougou.

Fire and Ice Leadership Award Winners 2007

Externato Ilundy School- Maputo, Mozambique.
In one of the world's poorest countries, Externato Illundy school has undertaken a litter prevention program in their capital city, which has experienced severe garbage collection and recycling challenges that have resulted in a variety of health hazards and climate change contributors.
 
Lakefield College School - Lakefield, Ontario, Canada.
Lakefield College School's 'stop idling' campaign is geared to raising awareness about the contribution that idling vehicles are making to increased levels of greenhouse gases, air pollution, and climate change.
 
E.M. Abel José Machado School - Massambará, Vassouras, RJ, Brazil.
Machado school has partnered with a local farm to build organic gardens and raise the profile of organic food production within the local farming community, one that has been severely impacted by the effects of soil degradation due to the overuse of commercial fertilizers and pesticides.
