Virtual Collaboration Environment Also Enables Instructor Professional Development and Remote Help Desk Support
Ft. Lauderdale, Florida., (March 20, 2006) —
Elluminate, Inc., a leading provider of live eLearning and Web collaboration
solutions for the real-time organization, announced today that the Argyll
Centre has implemented Elluminate
Live! Academic Edition™ to add
synchronous interaction to scheduled online classes and one-on-one tutoring
sessions. In addition, Argyll Centre uses Elluminate
Live! for
collaborative group sessions, enabling instructors and staff in remote
satellite locations to participate in meetings, pursue professional
development, create instructional materials, and facilitate help desk
activities, such as the remote troubleshooting of student computer problems.
The mandate of the Argyll Centre is to support all forms of home-based
learning, including LearnNet, its online program that supports 550 students at
a distance. "We found that the no-cost application we were using for our online
delivery didn't work well for us," said Ray Lautt, technology department head
for the Argyll Centre. "There were many technical issues, and we wanted to make
the material more engaging for our online students. Synchronous technology
better enables instructors to respond to students. Once we saw Elluminate
Live! it became clear that the product was superior in terms of technology,
and the reliability was much better. When you set up a session, it just happens,
without any technical issues getting in the way."
"From the instructor and staff perspective, there is a new enthusiasm for
teaching over distance, and while there is a high level of motivation and
satisfaction, there is also great anticipation about where we can take this
next," said Argyll Centre Principal Ron Bradley. "Looking at the business of
education, which is student achievement, we conducted two internal research
projects. The results showed that when young people are interacting on Elluminate
Live! with an instructor or one another, achievement goes up higher
than if students were in a text-based or asynchronous environment."
"We are excited that the Argyll Centre has implemented Elluminate
Live!
in a such a wide variety of areas, including live eLearning, meeting, collaboration,
professional development, and help desk," said Maurice Heiblum, Elluminate's
vice president of sales and marketing. "Our clients, like the Argyll Centre, have
found that the more they experience Elluminate
Live! the more uses they discover.
The potential is almost unlimited. Most importantly, the increases they have seen
in student achievement is exciting."
