More than 500 Schools Benefit from Elluminate's eLearning and Collaboration Software
Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, (October 10, 2006) —
Elluminate, Inc., a leading provider of live eLearning and web collaboration software,
today announced its continued market momentum, with more than 500 K-12 schools, higher
education institutions and companies around the world implementing its eLearning software,
Elluminate
Live!®, to encourage participation in online collaboration among
students, teachers and co-workers.
The company is exhibiting this week at EDUCAUSE 2006 Conference and Exposition at
the Dallas Convention Center in Dallas, TX. Visit Elluminate at booth 943.
Schools continue to increase adoption of eLearning and online collaboration tools
for many purposes, including bringing classes to homebound students, connecting
international programs at universities and teaching children in some of the most remote
areas of the world. According to a 2005 report from the Sloan Consortium, 63 percent
of schools offering face-to-face undergraduate classes also offer undergraduate classes
online, and 65 percent of schools offering in-person graduate classes also offer online
graduate classes. On the K-12 front, the U.S. Department of Education cites that nearly
25 percent of all schools offer some form of eLearning.
Elluminate has realized the growing importance and prominence of eLearning and has become
the trusted partner of many major schools and universities throughout the world. Among the
new implementations of the software this quarter include three major U.S. universities:
- Duke University chose Elluminate for university-wide distance learning, selecting the software specifically for its ability to work across multiple platforms.
- Louisiana State University selected Elluminate Live! to enable its College of Public Health classes to continue using a blended eLearning format in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
- University of Florida"s College of Pharmacy had an immediate need to increase live interaction with distance students, reduce the cost of international conference calls and cut travel for professors delivering courses to remote campuses.
Many other schools have begun using Elluminate this year, including Alabama State University,
California State University at Sacramento, Golden Gate University, Illinois State University,
PA Virtual Charter School, Prince William County Schools in Virginia, South Carolina Technical
College System, University of Northern British Columbia and University of Ottawa.
"Elluminate's award-winning technology has helped our company remain versatile, in order to
meet the very different demands of schools throughout the world," said
Maurice Heiblum, president of Elluminate, USA, Inc. "By allowing
schools to adapt to a variety of circumstances, including natural disasters, students
with disabilities, remote learners and students with differing socioeconomic status, we've made
distance learning more appealing and available to the masses. Academic institutions are benefiting
from our one-of-a-kind features that personalize online learning, and give them a tool that works
on any computer, across any connection speed. Universities and K-12 schools are discovering
