Live eLearning and Collaboration Environment Connects Instructors, Students, Administrators, and Researchers
Ft. Lauderdale, Florida., (January 30, 2006) —
Elluminate, Inc., a leading provider of live eLearning and web collaboration
solutions for the real-time organization, announced today that Northern Arizona
University (NAU) has implemented Elluminate
Live! Academic Edition™.
The university is using Elluminate
Live! to enable synchronous interaction
for online courses, instructor virtual office hours, real-time collaboration for
researchers, and statewide administrative meetings.
After an extensive, hands-on testing period, NAU selected Elluminate
Live!
for its ease of use, low-bandwidth connectivity, multi-platform support, robust
VoIP, WebCT Vista integration, and ADA compliance. Today, the university uses
Elluminate
Live! in a wide variety of departments and disciplines for
teaching, learning, meeting, and collaboration. Future plans for the live
eLearning environment include identifying faculty at the university's six
colleges to act as mentors to promote adoption, providing a stipend to facilitate
the development of best practices, and creating a WebCT Vista shell for every
course with Elluminate
Live! as one of the available tools.
"While technology like interactive TV and content management systems enhance
distance learning, people still want human interaction," said Don Carter,
director of the E-Learning Center at NAU. "We recognized that the time was right
to bring in technology that would allow faculty to control their interactions with
each other and with students. Elluminate
Live! enables us to offer a
broader solution that can support all campus activities, not just online courses."
"Elluminate is very pleased to add NAU to its impressive roster of academic clients
at all educational levels,"
Maurice Heiblum, president
of Elluminate USA, Inc. "Elluminate
Live! enables NAU and other institutions
to mirror and enhance the interactivity of a traditional classroom as well as to
provide comprehensive, reliable support for many other educational and collaborative
activities, connecting participants across campus, throughout the nation, and
around the globe."
