Check the volume controls in your System Preferences under "Sound", "Input". Select the Device you are going to use. Is the Input Level Indicator light moving? Is the "Input Volume" slider moved all the way to the left? Make sure that the "Input Volume" is at about in the middle of the slider and you can see the indicator lights moving when you speak into your microphone.

Are you able to see any indicator light when the "Input volume" slider is moved to the right?
