Users of audio devices that feature Realtek's HD Audio Drivers
might encounter an Unable to Configure Audio message when
logging in to an Elluminate Live! session.
The audio trouble you have encountered is due to the audio
drivers used by your sound card. The Realtek HD controls
four audio devices:
- Realtek HD Audio rear output
- Realtek HD Front Green Jack
- Realtek HD Front Pink Jack
- Realtek HD Audio rear input
It is likely that you have your speakers plugged in to the
first device, and your microphone plugged in to the third device.
You can plug a microphone into any of the last three devices. However,
the second and third devices are missing components that are required
configure the microphone. That component is present only in the fourth device.
To allow the audio to work with Elluminate
Live!, make the
following two changes to your system:
- Plug the microphone in to the rear input microphone jack,
which is on the back of the computer near to where the
speakers are plugged in.
- Change the Recording Preferred Device:
- Open your Control Panel
- Open the Sound and Audio Devices control
- Select the Audio tab
- Change the Sound Recording Preferred Device to
Realtek HD Audio rear input.
Try again to access Elluminate
Live! and you should
find that the audio functions normally. If this is
unsuccessful, please contact
Elluminate Support.
