Union County Public Schools Combines Technology and Arts
Dr. Tom Moncrief, High School Curriculum Coordinator for the Performing Arts at Union County Public Schools, has discovered that Elluminate vRoom is a great way to combine technology and arts. He connects students online with artists and musicians—like the entire cast of the musical
Rent.
The virtual room also enabled 9th and 10th graders at a charter school's Medical Science Academy to view a laparoscopic surgery and ask the surgeon questions. And teachers at different schools are using vRoom to conduct end-of-class test review for students in multiple classes.
"I believe that vRoom is not only a perfect way for classrooms to communicate with each other and outside experts but it also enables teachers to collaborate together," says Dr. Moncrief. Without vRoom, the travel time and logistical aspects of each intellectual exchange would have been impossible."
