vRoom Unites Family for Wedding Celebration
An instructional researcher and adjunct lecturer of Educational Leadership for the University of Illinois at Springfield,
Shari McCurdy Smith is also a new bride. However, while this story has a happy ending, in the beginning, the one dark cloud over Shari’s upcoming wedding was the absence of one of her daughters.
When given an opportunity to get married in San Antonio, which worked well for her fiancé Mike’s family, Shari still had to figure out how daughter Lauren, who was studying in Spain, could participate. An experienced Elluminate
Live! user in her work, Shari hoped new Elluminate vRoom could be the answer for this very intimate family event.
The wedding took place outside under a gazebo, which fortunately had electricity. Coupled with a laptop with Internet access and a standing microphone, it was a match made in heaven. The computer even did double duty, providing the music and running the vRoom session.
"I’m grateful for Elluminate’s innovation," says Shari. "With vRoom, Lauren was able to participate in the wedding, which was so important to us. It made my mom cry, and it made me cry. Everything worked out really well."
